The week before school begins we spend a Saturday morning painting, cleaning, sweeping and generally getting the school ready for the new year! This is a great time to meet new parents, and is a required event for Scholarship families.
We have two of these a year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring. It’s a fantastic time to see the classroom through your child’s eyes, experience what they are learning and are passionate about.
We gather together three times a year; once in the Fall, once in the Spring, and once at Graduation – the children love to play with their friends after school, and this is a great time to relax and get to know other families at Sunrise Montessori.
Once a year the Fundraising Committee hosts a fantastic party, Silent and Live Auction Event. In year’s past there have been ski trips, all inclusive beach vacations, concert tickets to the County Bowl and impressive wine cellars, just to name a few items in the Live Auctions. It’s an event you don’t want to miss!
In November or December, all parents of children who will be eligible for Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten the following year are invited to attend a meeting to learn how to navigate the Santa Barbara School system and what options are available to prospective students. An open discussion will follow the presentation.
During the Winter Semester there are two Parent Education Nights, topics can include: “Introduction To Montessori”, “Multiple Intelligences: how to tailor education to your child’s strengths in learning” and “Managing the Lunch Rut” – just to name a few. If you would like to learn more about a particular topic, please contact the office to make a suggestion.
